Metadata, content indexing and AI

To ensure that your users can find the specific brand assets they are looking for, the mediabank has different built-in features to index and enrich your content. Following Adobe standards, Brandware is fully compatible with XMP and IPTC, the industry standards for metadata of digital media assets, for both reading and writing. This way your assets are guaranteed to be well-documented and can be found easily and used for the right purpose. Besides metadata, the mediabank also indexes the textual content in documents and is even able to detect objects in your images using advanced artificial intelligence methods. All of these mediabank features exist to save you time when describing and structuring your files.

Mediabank Q&A

What is XMP and how can it help me?

XMP stands for Extensible Metadata Platform, an ISO standard for the creation, processing and exchange of metadata for all kinds of resources which was originally created by Adobe. Brandware is fully compatible with XMP, XMP:IPTC and XMP:EXIF metadata. If your source files already contain metadata, the portal will use this information to display and index your files. Any and all information added manually to the brand portal is also recorded inside your files automatically so it is easy to find even after your users have downloaded the file.

Can we add our own filters to the mediabank?

You can organise assets by brand, media type, category or with your own filters. In most cases you may want to separate items by t category but if you may want to highlight a brand or company’s specific feature of assets, a custom filter may be the best option. You can also let the user sort the mediabank search results based on your own custom filters or by adding brand assets to a personal or public collection.

Are design files automatically converted for online viewing?

When you upload design source files like Adobe Photoshop (PSD), Illustrator (AI) or Acrobat (PDF) files after upload the brand portal automatically processes these files, generates thumbnails, extracts XMP metadata and indexes textual content. Optionally you can setup resizing rules per media type to create multiple sizes and resolutions of your media assets.

Can we give certain users access to a few of the items in the mediabank?

Your users are associated to one or multiple groups, brands or markets. Your mediabank items follow the same structure. Thanks to this, when required, you can show specific media assets to specific users. Your brand portal matches the settings of the assets to the settings of the user’s profile. This gives you complete flexibility in providing access to items relevant to the user.

Can we add our own product code, EAN, SKU or other information to mediabank items?

You have total freedom in describing your media assets. By default each item has e.g. a name, description and copyright information, but you can also add your own attributes. It doesn’t matter if it is a numeric code, text or a few options to choose from, you can describe it using Custom Attributes. Because your attributes are defined per media type, this can only be done once and each item added to this media type can include the defined attributes. The same attributes are shown to users that deliver new files to your portal and can be linked to XMP metadata fields. This way your agency’s partners can help enter relevant information before the file is added to the mediabank.

Is it possible to use or embed mediabank items on our corporate website or webshop?

Your Brandware brand portal can act as a content hub. With the Brandware API, developers can communicate with your mediabank and perform search queries just like you do. That way you can connect basically every website content management system (CMS) or webshop to take part in the selection of images, video or documents that have been approved by your marketing team or the brand manager. It is also possible to embed media using a secured embed link or embedded code, which works similar to embedding a video from Youtube on a website. For more information see Integrations.
